Jonno is one of the most original and sensitive drummers on South Africa’s exploding music scene. His sound and approach attract attention wherever he plays and in whatever context he finds himself.

Jonno Sweetman crosses the boundaries of genre and intention with an uncanny grace to bring us his debut EP called OTHERSIDE. Known as a sensitive and versatile jazz drummer, Sweetman’s respect and love for what is essential in music is abundantly clear in this poignant collection of songs, each as beautifully crafted as a fine instrument. At the core of his quintet of personal reflections is a vulnerability that emanates a masculine warmth. He is currently a member of Kyle Shepherd trio, Carlo Mombelli group , Skyjack , Reza Khota Quartet , Albert Frost trio and Mabuta. He has also performed and recorded with Lionel Loueke , Jorge Rossy, Karen Zoid, Dan Patlansky and Guy Buttery.
